Pretty feet are a detail that can’t be ignored! And foot maintenance is honesty something that needs to be kept up all year long! Yes even throughout winter- especially though winter when our feet get super dry! Getting your regular pedicures are great and all, but why not do more for your feet? Here are 4 things that you can do to keep your feet looking pretty all year long. These secrets are so simple and adding them to your usual routine will make all the difference!
Secrets for pretty feet:
1. Cuticle care
Cuticles are so important because they act as a barrier between your nail and skin. So never, ever cut them! Cutting them only makes you vulnerable to bacteria and possible an infection. So now that you know how important cuticles are, what are you doing to take care of them? Ever notice how the last step of your mani (the cuticle oil part) suddenly gives your nails a clean glow! If your nail lady can add a few drops of oil to create magic, so can you! Cuticle oil will moisturize your dry cuticles, it’s good for overall nail health, and just gives your nails an extra shine! I like to apply a cuticle oil at least once a week! Give each foot one drop, a quick massage over nail beds, and watch- its magic!
2. Polish
Even though its encouraged to see your nail lady frequently this doesn’t always mean you need to be getting your nails painted! Long term use of nail polish can cause the polish to soak into the top layers of the nail and dry out your nails. Heavy nail polish can also block light, creating a moist and dark environment. which can make your toe nails prone to fungus. Too much of anything is never a good idea! So give your toes a break from polish every now and then. I like to schedule my colorful toe polish around holidays and special events. If you have nothing coming up- gives your toes a little break and go natural!
3. Exfoilation
Getting patches of dry skin on your feet is inevitable! And even if you are getting a pedicure once a month, sometimes your heels can still get crusty and dry! My favorite tool to use in the shower is my foot scrubber! It takes <1 min to use and it gives you the softest feet! It comes in a set of 4. So 2 for you and 2 for your boyfriend/ husband;)
4. Hydration
Your ankles and heels are naturally very dry so these areas need all the extra love that they can get! The Cocoa Butter daily skin therapy is an amazing daily treatment for these areas. It’s Cocoa Butter, so it’s going to smell amazing!! Like a tropical vacation! And the formula really locks in moisture, keeping your feet nice and hydrated! Apply this daily before bed or several times a week. In the winter months I love to apply this to my feet and then wear socks to bed for an extra hydrating treatment!
