The Best Way To Clean Your Face

The best products to clean your face: caudalie make-up removing cleansing oil and micellar cleansing water.

Hands down the most important part of your skincare routine is to clean your face! So it makes sense for you to make sure that you’re doing it right and using the right products. I recently tried the latest skincare fad- double cleansing. And OMG I instantly became obsessed! So today I’m breaking down the steps of how to double cleanse and the Caudalie products that I swear by!

Who should double cleanse?

If you’re like me and wear a lot of face makeup or if you have acne/ oily-prone skin, keep reading! Your skin will thank you for this!! Or if you just want clean beauty products to remove your make-up, this is also for you!

How often should you double cleanse?

We all know that we should wash our face twice a day, but are you actually doing that? I’ve been guilty of just doing a quick rinse with water in the am plenty of times. But using an actual cleansing product on your face morning and night is so worth the extra 2 minutes it takes!

Why should you double cleanse?

Throughout your day and while you sleep bacteria, makeup, and pollutants accumulate on your skin. All those impurities if not properly removed can lead to breakouts, blemishes, and aging. The double cleanse uses an oil and then a water based product to remove all these impurities! It will also prepare your skin for your morning and nighttime serums and creams. Creams and serums are better absorbed on a clean face. If your going to go through all the trouble to apply all the fancy serums and creams, you might as well properly clean your face so you can get the most out of all the face products you apply!

Step 1: Oil based cleanser

Warm a few pumps of the Caudalie makeup removing cleansing oil between your palms and massage it over your face. Take your time massaging the product into your skin so that you are thoroughly removing your makeup and any other impurities. Its the best feeling when you can actually feel your makeup melting off your face. Then work your way to your eye area. You want to do eyes last because you don’t want your mascara to rub all over your face! Then rinse with lukewarm water and OMG the texture of the oil suddenly changes into a super soft lotion consistency! Then pat dry your face and your skin is left feeling super soft and hydrated!

Step 2: Water-based cleanser

In the final step you use a water-based cleanser to really get down into your pores and get rid of any remaining residue. The Caudalie micellar cleansing water can remove makeup, cleanse, and tone all without using any water. Talk about being efficient. Wet a cotton pad and wipe your face and neck. I really love how you can get the make-up out of your hairline too without getting water everywhere. I swear this stuff is magic! Use another cotton pad and press down on your eyes (using a different side of the cotton pad for each eye). Avoid rubbing too hard because that can be damaging to your lashes. This gentle formula really makes your face feel clean and the process is so quick.

Both products get the Sephora clean beauty stamp of approval! Meaning they are free of Sulfates—SLS + SLES, Parabens, Formaldehydes, mineral oil, and more! There aren’t a lot of clean makeup remover products on the market that actually work and can remove stubborn mascara this good! Trust me I’ve searched and trialed them! And nothing will clean your face this good!

I love Caudalie but I didn’t know they had a cleansing oil! I’ll have to test it out— I need an oil based cleanser, anyway. Thanks for sharing!
